You can customise the case fields used on the Case Details screen.

Below is a list of commonly used case fields that are often included in the case layout by default.

Case Field Name

Description

Case Code

This is assigned to the case during set-up and is therefore not normally changed. However, it can be changed by clicking on the 'Edit' link.

Client

This is assigned during the case set-up and is the contact that is billed for the case. The location that pays the case invoices is also displayed on this line next to ‘Bills to’.

Users

There can be up to four users assigned a role on a case. Typically, these are called:

  • Attorney (User)
  • Assistant (User2)
  • Formalities (User3)
  • Secretary (User4)

You can rename the roles. Please contact the Equinox Support team for assistance with this.

Status

Case statuses let you track the progress of a case. Select the status from the dropdown list.

See our Case Status Glossary for more information.

Titles

There are three title fields that can be included on a case:

  • Short Title (This is entered during case set up and will be used on invoices)
  • Long Title (This is entered during case set up and is generally used in letters and emails)
  • Formal Title (This can be added as an additional field and is the title that appears on the patent specification/official office register)

Country Code (CC)

This is the official ISO two-character country code, sometimes referred to as ‘CC’ in various parts of the system. You can enter the code manually or select the name from the dropdown list.

Image

This field is generally used for Trade marks and Registered Designs and allows you to upload a relevant image (displayed on the right of the screen).

Some case fields are used specifically by Trade mark cases. Please see the article on 'Trade mark Case Information Fields' for more information on this.
