The Equinox Microsoft Office Plugin integrates with the main Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint), and provides an easy way to save documents and emails on to your Equinox system from within Office.



This guide provides the information you need to install and log into the Microsoft Office Plugin.



1. Prerequisites

Note: If you've successfully used a previous version of the plugin on your machine, it's likely that you already have the below prerequisites installed.


Install Microsoft .NET Framework
You need Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or higher to run this version of the plugin. If you have the Windows 8 operating system or above or have used a previous version of the Equinox plugin on your computer in the past, then this is probably installed already. If not, you can follow the below steps:


  1. Go to: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48 
  2. Select Download .NET Framework 4.8 Runtime under the Runtime header 
  3. Install the downloaded file 


Install Visual C++ Redistributable 

The Visual C++ redistributable is also required to run the plugin. Please follow the below steps to install:

  1. Go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
  2.  Click Download
  3. Choose: VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe (If you have a 64bit version of Microsoft Office please choose • VSU_4\vcredist_x64.exe. If you are not sure then please try the x86 file first)
  4. Install the downloaded file


2. Uninstall the existing plugin (if applicable) 


If you've previously installed another version of this plugin, you'll need to uninstall this for the latest version of the plugin to work. To do this:

  1. Close down any Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  2. Choose Uninstall a program from within the Windows Control Panel
  3. Uninstall the program called EquinoxOI or Equinox Office 3


3. Install the latest plugin installer


  1. Download the latest plugin installer file (see our Download Links article for more information)
  2. Close down any Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  3. Install the downloaded file


Note: The download link you need to use depends on which server you log in from. 



4. Logging In


When you first open an Office program after installation, you should see the below login window:



Note: The website address in the 'Server' box will be different depending on which server you use. This will be set automatically based on the plugin version that you have downloaded.


  1. Click the Login button to open Equinox in your web browser. 
  2. Log in to Equinox via the browser
  3. Choose Allow to grant access to the plugin. 


Note: the Login to Equinox plugin window should stay open whilst you complete the authorisation process.



After clicking Allow, you'll see confirmation that you've granted access to the Equinox Office Integration.



After you successfully authorise the plugin, the below message should appear. Click Continue to finish the process.



You're now ready to start using the Equinox Office Plugin!
