Finding the Law Notifications tab on the IP Portal

The Law Notifications tab is the second tab from the left in the toolbar at the top of the IP Portal. Click this tab to access the Law Notifications section from any page of the IP Portal.

Search for law notifications by jurisdiction

You can search for all law notifications for a particular jurisdiction through the Country dropdown menu. This dropdown menu contains entries for both countries and supranational organisations such as the EPO and WIPO.

In this example we'll be looking at how to find all law notifications for the Unified Patent Court (UPC). To do this:

1.     Select Unitary Patent (UP) from the Country dropdown menu

2.     Click Search

3. Equinox will now show a list of all law notifications containing the jurisdiction 'Unitary Patent (UP)'

Note: As you can see in the example at the bottom of the screen, Equinox will display results where either:

  • The jurisdiction you've searched for is the only result a law notification is about

        Or

  • The jurisdiction you've searched for is one of multiple jurisdictions a law notification is about

Get more details about a law notification

You can find out more details about a law notification by doing the following:

Find the source of a law notification

You can find the sources for all Equinox’s law notifications in the IP Portal. The IP Portal lists the sources of law notifications in the Source column on the right-hand side of the results list.

In the example below, we can see that the WIPO website is the source of this law notification.

If you want more information about the source, click on WIPO. This will take you to the page of the WIPO website where the law update is listed, so you'll be able to read about it in more detail.
