This article explains how to configure and use the Markify trade mark watch integration in Equinox.

The Markify watch integration allows you to place trade mark watch orders from within Equinox. You can view and manage your existing watches within Equinox, and receive notifications when new watch results are available.

Activating the integration

Note: You must be registered with Markify before you are able to use the integration in Equinox.

To activate the integration in Equinox:

  1. Enter the Markify API Key in Equinox, in System > System Preferences > Questel Services > Markify API Key. The API Key will be provided by Markify.

  2. The additional options can be set to generate tasks when new watch results are received. More information is in the Receiving watch results section below.

  3. Click the Update button to save the settings.

  4. The integration will be activated, and the system Services tab will be enabled. This will be visible for Admin users by default, but can be controlled through System Permissions.

Placing a watch order

To place a new Watch order with Markify:

  1. From the Details tab of the matter that the order relates to, click Order Markify Watch in the left sidebar.

  2. You will be directed to the New Watch Order page. Information from the matter will pre-populate the Matter Code, Watched Mark, and Classes fields.

  3. Complete the remaining fields on the order page. The fields are used as below:

    Field NameUsage
    NameThe name of the watch order. This transfers to 'Internal Note' in Markify.
    Matter CodeThe matter code(s) linked to the watch order. This transfers to 'External client ID' in Markify.
    Watched MarkThe title of the word mark to be used for the watch. This transfers to 'Watched mark' in Markify.
    PackageThe Markify watch package for the order. This transfers to 'Watched DB' in Markify.
    ClassesThe classes to be watched. This transfers to 'Watched classes' in Markify.
    Auto-RenewThe auto renew property for the order. This transfers to 'Auto renewal' in Markify.

  4. When you've entered all the required information, click the Create button.

  5. The watch order will be created, and you will be redirected to the Markify Watches list in Equinox. The newly placed order will be visible in the list.

You can also place a watch order through the Services tab in Equinox. To do so, go to Services > Watches > Create Order. The New Watch Order form will be the same as in the example above.

Viewing watches in Equinox

When you activate the watch integration, any existing watches linked to your Markify API key will be imported into Equinox overnight. For new watch orders placed in Equinox, the watches will be visible in Equinox immediately.

To view your watches:

  1. Go to Services > Watches.

  2. The Markify Watches page lists all watches linked to your API key. The filters on the list default to showing only Active watches. 

  3. Click on the Name of the watch to view the watch details.

 

An 'Active Markify Watch' message will also display on matters that have an active watch linked. The link is based on the matter code being stored as a matter code on the watch order. You can click View Watch from the matter details tab to take you to the details of the associated watch.

Amending watch details

Watch details can be amended in Markify or in Equinox. If you make changes to the watch details in Markify, the updated details will be retrieved from Markify and will display in Equinox the next time you open the watch details. 

To update the watch details in Equinox:

  1. From the Markify Watches list, accessed via Services > Watches, click on the Name of the watch you want to update.

  2. Make any changes required.

  3. Click Update.

  4. The updated details will be transferred to Markify instantly.

Receiving watch results

Equinox checks for any new watch results each night. When new results are available, notifications are displayed within the Equinox, with links to view the results on Markify.

To view new watch results:

  1. Access the Questel Services dashboard via the Services tab.
  2. The Watches with new results widget will show any watch results that are not yet marked as handled.
  3. Click the name of the watch to access the Watch Order Details page. 

  4. Click View on Markify to view the watch results. This will redirect you to the Markify website.
  5. When the results have been handled, click Mark as Results Handled. The watch will be removed from the Watches with new results widget, until further watch results are received.


A New Markify Watch Results message will also display on the Details tab of the corresponding matters.


It is also possible for a task to be automatically generated when new watch results are received. The task would be automatically generated on each matter code that is linked to the watch order. 

This can be enabled in System > Questel Services, by checking the Generate Task for new Watch results option. You can also define the generated task type, and the task user through the same page. The description of the automatically generated task cannot be changed at this time.
